There were 31.5 billion ACH Network payments made in 2023, valued at $80.1 trillion.Through problem-solving and consensus-building among diverse payment industry stakeholders, Nacha advances innovation and interoperability in the payments system. Nacha develops rules and standards, provides industry solutions, and delivers education, accreditation, and advisory services. Payments Governance

In addition to our oversight of the modern ACH Network, Nacha does much more. As a rule writer within the payments space, we are open and transparent by providing numerous ways for stakeholders to have a voice in the development process, which fosters compatibility and integration in the payments system.

The ACH Network

The ACH Network electronically moves money and related payment information from any financial institution account to another in as little as a few hours with Same Day ACH or one to two days (as designated by the sender) with standard ACH. Nacha develops and administers the private sector Nacha Operating Rules for ACH payments, which define the roles and responsibilities of ACH Network participants. Nacha continues to safely grow and enhance the use of ACH payments through collaboration and innovation.

Risk Management Portal

Risk Management Portal: A single resource to access Nacha risk management services and databases, including Third-Party Sender Registration, Direct Access Registration, Terminated Originator Database, and the ACH Contact Registry.

Risk Management Framework

The Risk Management Framework identifies themes in payments risk management and areas of focus that address new and persistent frauds that increasingly make use of various types of credit-push payments, including ACH credits, wires, cards, and other instant and digital payments.

Nacha Certified

Nacha Certifiedis avoluntary certification program for Third-Party Senders to demonstrate that they have solid risk and compliance programs, stability, sound governance, and strong core ACH practices.

Rules Enforcement and Arbitration

Rules Enforcement and Arbitrationhas adedicated team that works to promote compliance with the Nacha Operating Rules, and to address claims of non-compliance and resolve disputes.

Healthcare Electronic Funds Transfer

TheHealthcare Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) standard supports electronic claim payments and remittance information between health plans and health care providers, accelerating cash flow and simplifying reconciliation for providers.

Quest

TheQuest Operating Rules for Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) enable the distribution of government benefits regardless of state borders. Government entities incorporate the rules in their contracts with private sector service providers. Nacha administers the Quest Operating Rules and works with all interested parties to develop additional standards for related programs.

Payments Enablement

Nacha leverages and deploys technologies and resources to advance payments system innovation and interoperability. Nacha consults and partners with our diverse stakeholders to evolve payments to be easy, safe, reliable, and fast.

Phixius

Phixius is a peer-to-peer network service that provides for the exchange of payment-related information, principally in the areas of risk management and fraud prevention. In 2022, the Phixius network moved more than 2 million payment-related transactions and reached more than 1,700 financial institutions and 10,000 businesses.

Nacha Consulting

Nacha Consulting offers payments advisory to organizations of all sizes - corporations, financial institutions, fintechs and others - to help them optimize, grow and expand existing products/services as well as develop new offerings. Services include ACH assessments that provide an end-to-end review of ACH policies, procedures and risk controls to identify gaps in compliance/industry best practices. The team also conducts product reviews to support successful integration with the ACH Network and other payment rails, and provides payments strategy and custom education.

Accredited Payments Risk Professional

The Accredited Payments Risk Professional (APRP) is a professional accreditation designating that an individual has demonstrated a comprehensive knowledge of risk management strategies, concepts, and mitigation techniques within the payments ecosystem, while mastering the complexities of risk management across all payment types, including emerging and alternative.

Accredited Faster Payments Professional

The Accredited Faster Payments Professional (AFPP) will be a professional accreditation program designating that an individual has demonstrated a comprehensive knowledge of faster payments including operations, risk management, and platform characteristics. The program is designed for payments professionals seeking to advance their career in faster payments, including Same Day ACH, instant and push-to-card debit payments.

Faster Payments Professional Certificate

The Faster Payments Professional (FPP) certificate is a first-of-its-kind program providing professionals with holistic views of faster payments and getting them acquainted with current offerings. Earning this certificate demonstrates proficiency in the faster payments field. Training is available through the nation’s Payments Associations.

Nacha Leadership

Jane Larimer, President and CEO

Jane Larimer is President and CEO of Nacha, which governs the modern ACH Network, the payment system that quickly and safely moved 31.5 billion payments in 2023. Nacha also develops rules and standards, provides industry solutions, and delivers education, accreditation, and advisory services.

Jane has led Nacha since July 2019, guiding the association as it builds consensus to further innovation in the payments industry. Jane has been recognized for her work in advancing the ACH Network and for Nacha as a leader in payments education. In 2022 and 2023, Jane was named one of Washington DC’s Most Influential People by Washingtonian Magazine, and in 2021, she was named one of the Most Influential Women in Payments by PaymentsSource.

An Ohio native raised in Florida, Jane joined Nacha as its first in-house counsel and has also served as the association’s chief operating officer and executive vice president of ACH Network Administration.

Jane holds a law degree from the University of Florida – Fredric G. Levin College of Law. Prior to Nacha, Jane practiced law in Atlanta at a firm now known as Bryan Cave LLP.

Nacha Board of Directors

The Nacha Board of Directors provides strategic guidance related to the modern ACH Network and the governance of Nacha as an industry association. The Nacha Board consists of executives from large and small banks and credit unions who represent Nacha’s Direct Financial Institution Members, Payments Innovation Alliance, and the family of Payments Associations that support and provide a voice for thousands of organizations across the country that use and benefit from the ACH Network.

ACH Network Advisory Board

The ACH Network Advisory Board serves as a venue for senior executives from a balanced cross section of corporations, fintechs and other technology providers to communicate directly with the Nacha Board of Directors. The ACH Network Advisory Board engages in dialogue with representatives of the Nacha Board and provides input and feedback on topics significant to the ACH Network and to those who use or support and enable the use of ACH payments by others.

Nacha has continually engaged diverse non-financial institution organizations through membership programs, industry outreach, and various groups and channels within Nacha rulemaking on the development of the ACH Network and the Nacha Operating Rules.
