Job Description:

McDonald’s is seeking a Sr. Director to join the Global Security team to serve as the Head of Global Intelligence. In this role you'll be the conduit between 3rd Party Intelligence sources, McDonald’s Global Security leadership team, our regional personnel, and corporate business partners. You will serve a critical role developing and maintaining McDonald’s protocols and objectives, as well as be responsible for the day-to-day intelligence reporting and monitoring activities of full-time and contracted analysts. You will be an integral part of our operations, directly responsible for researching, analyzing, and publishing risk assessments affecting business units across the globe. You will leverage your deep substantive knowledge of global security and geopolitics to influence some of the company’s most complex decisions. You will report to the Global Chief Security Officer and be based in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement McDonald’s intelligence strategy which includes open-source, investigative, and law enforcement intelligence.
  • Establish intelligence techniques to collect, organize, synthesize, and summarize data to provide actionable information to decision makers.
  • Serve as a key member of the crisis management team to ensure connectivity with key law enforcement and responsible agencies.
  • Responsible for the budget and vendor relations, as well as performing strategic reviews of new technologies and methodologies that can support the intelligence services program.
  • Marshal and lead company resources sufficiently to conduct complete and thorough intelligence investigations, with conclusions supported by facts and details appropriate to the nature of the matter.
  • Lead the preparation of contemporaneous alerts, daily/weekly analytical products, event-driven briefs and strategic, long-term research projects.
  • Develop metrics to assess the threat exposure of McDonald’s properties and global events.
  • Conduct targeted briefings to senior management.
  • Create and handle McDonald’s Duty of Care process for executives and employees traveling internationally.
  • Develop and maintain a worldwide network of intelligence sources.
  • Provide oversight of the collection of international, national, and local intelligence applying various sources to produce a written daily/incident specific analytical report(s) to be supplied to key collaborators and business units.
  • Direct work assignments, provide performance feedback (quarterly), coach and mentor subordinates, and perform contract related administrative duties to include scheduling, payroll and as required, disciplinary actions.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of diverse law enforcement, military or corporate security experience with a proven track record of successful project management of large scale, global, multi-year transformations.
  • Formal certifications in intelligence collection, collection management, intelligence analysis, or other intelligence subject areas from a government agency preferred.
  • Experience providing security recommendations to senior leaders based on identified threat streams.
  • Firm understanding of basic threat, vulnerability, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Must be an articulate and persuasive leader who can serve as an effective leader within the senior management team and who is able to communicate security-related concepts to a broad range of constituents.
  • Know-how of managing budgets, P&L and security operation centers.
  • Deep comprehension of working collaboratively across multiple constituents, lines of business and functions.
  • A deep understanding of the intelligence cycle and its application in a dynamic corporate security environment.
  • A dependable teammate with business maturity, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to quickly forge productive relationships and build networks at all levels, internally and externally to McDonald’s.
  • Proven ability to accurately draw conclusions by synthesizing raw data and information from multiple, unrelated sources into a tailored, comprehensive product.
  • Experience providing counsel to senior leadership and working in stressful situations while maintaining tact, diplomacy, and strength of character.
  • Active memberships in security organizations and intelligence working groups nationally and internationally.
  • Incisive, analytical problem solver with the ability to grasp complex subject matter quickly with challenging assumptions.
  • Ability to multi-task while keeping keen attention to detail.
  • Individual must have experience supervising and managing teams.
  • Excellent written, analytical, and organization skills required.
  • Ability to maintain extreme confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Strong background and experience in law enforcement and corporate security.
  • High degree of IT literacy, including but not limited to social media platforms, Microsoft Office suite and web browsing tools/methods.
