    Kiwis suck at paying attention to the road. 👎There, I said it! Every time I drive, whether it's to the office or the supermarket, I see working professionals driving while distracted - on their phones or getting ready for work. Unpopular opinion, but...Just because you're sitting in traffic and think it's 'safe enough' doesn't mean you can shift your focus from the road and other drivers. If anything, this is the most crucial time to be alert. Traffic (especially here in Auckland) is in a constant state of stop-start during busy periods and this is when I see the most road accidents - not when traffic is flowing freely. It's alarming how many accidents occur because drivers aren't focused. Someone's trying to drop the kids off to school, another is running late to work, Ben over then is having a bad day - EVERYONE wants to get home quickly! You might say "I know what I'm doing" or "I do this all the time, it's fine", but just think about it - you're not only putting yourself in danger but everyone else around you and I for one don't think that's fair. It only takes one misjudgment to cause an accident. For Road Safety Week 2024 (coordinated by Brake, the road safety charity and sponsored by NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi and Beca), I urge every driver to put both hands on the wheel, turn up the radio or your favourite playlist, and focus on getting to your destination safely.     I'm shopping for a new jacket! 🧥You're probably thinking, wow that's great Holly, but why are you sharing this on LinkedIn? Well, I found a pretty cool marketing tactic that Forever New Clothing has used that deserves a round of applause. 👏During my search for a new winter jacket, I came across Forever New's 'Vegan Leather' range. My first thought was, what on earth - but then it clicked! Back in the day 'Faux Leather' was the term companies used to describe their leather-look products and when I see that word now I think of words like 'fake, cheap, knockoff'. *enter Vegan Leather* Now when I see Vegan Leather products on Forever New's website, words like 'sustainable, animal-friendly, green' come to mind. It's crazy to think that a subtle change like replacing 'Faux' with 'Vegan' can flip-turn an individual's perspective on your products.     Trying new things is HARD, but often rewarding! Storytime 🤠🎶About a month ago, a close friend invited me to a concert featuring a country artist I had never heard of. Admittedly, I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy it but I didn't want my friend to go alone and I had nothing to lose so I decided to tag along for a girl's night. *cue last night in Auckland's Town Hall* Boy was I wrong. The concert was INCREDIBLE! I not only had the time of my life rocking out to country music, but I also discovered two new artists that I adore. It's funny how a simple little thing like 'trying something new' can change my perspective on something that I thought I knew about myself. It reminded me how important it is to be open to new opportunities and challenges, both personally and professionally. So next time you're faced with something unfamiliar, remember that trying new things - even if they seem daunting at first, is always worth it. You never know, you might just learn something new! 🤯P.S. If you haven't heard of Kayleigh Bell or NAVVY, I highly recommend giving them a listen and supporting homegrown Kiwi talent. 💫#personaldevelopment #alwayslearning

    Well, it's April, and I've stuffed up on my goal for 2024!Or so I thought... This year, one of my goals was to become more active on LinkedIn, and here we are in April and I'm still MIA (relatable marketing content and memes aside, of course). I even mustered up the courage to share a heartfelt post about my struggles with posting regularly when Nick McDonald challenged me to step up earlier this year but guess what? I deleted it as soon as I hit 'post'. Yep, the irony isn't lost on me - I work in Marketing, yet find it a challenge to post on my own accounts! 😅But hey, it's not all doom and gloom. I'm here now, and I refuse to label myself a failure. After all, it's only April. and there's plenty of time left in the year to crush my goal! 🙌🏻If you've stuck around to read this far, I appreciate you tuning in!
