Do military get priority boarding on American Airlines? ›

Offering active-duty military priority boarding. Complimentary access to Admirals Club® lounge locations to current U.S. military personnel in uniform during the day of travel on an American Airlines-operated flight, when space is available.

Group 5 is not priority boarding on American Airlines, but Preferred boarding. This group includes passengers that pay for Main Cabin Extra perks, as well as those who hold co-branded AAdvantage airline credit cards.

That said, even first-class flyers may not be the first to board, as American Airlines invites those needing special assistance and families with children under two years old to preboard. After that, there are nine official boarding groups.

American Airlines Concierge Key

American Airlines' Concierge Key is an elite status program for top-tier customers who spend at least $50,000 a year and fly over 200,000 miles (though these aren't hard-and-fast requirements).

Historically it might take around $60,000 in spend mostly on premium cabin tickets to qualify for ConciergeKey status, although that's never guaranteed (and seems to be the case that customers in smaller markets may not have to spend as much as someone based in, say, Dallas).

For faster boarding, proceed when the Priority boarding group is called and board even earlier if you're seated in First or Business or are an AAdvantage^® status member. Just look for 'Priority' on your boarding pass.

Early boarding is available if you need more time or assistance boarding. You must identify yourself to the gate agent to request early boarding. Wheelchair assistance is available to help with long distances at the airport.
