Eugene reached down grabbing a bottle. "Eugene!" Rosita scolded. "What are you doing, dude?" Tara asked.

"Quality assurance." He said as he opened the bottle. He raised it to his mouth but it was smacked down by Abraham.

"We can't." Rick said. Thunder started rumbling in the distance. Everyone began looking up at the sky right as drops fell.

Most of the group seemed happy as they laughed. Carl placed his hat over Judith. Rosita and Tara lied on the ground as they giggled.

Vienna looked down at the ground. A solemn expression on her face. She turned to look at the others. Maggie, Sasha, and Daryl shared the same look that she did.

Daryl met her eye. She expected him to look away but he didn't. They just stared at each other. No words were spoken as rain poured down on them.

"Everybody, get the bags. Anything you can find. Come on." Rick told them. They grabbed bottles and placed them in the road to collect water.

Judith began crying as the thunder grew louder. The dark clouds drew closer to them. Rick stared at them with concern etched on his face.

"Let's keep moving." Rick called out. Vienna and Daryl looked to each other again. "There's a barn." She said to Rick.

"Where?" Rick asked. She looked to Daryl. He motioned for everyone to follow. They all walked quickly in hopes of making it there before the storm got worse.

They opened the doors and walked in with their guns up. They checked the place quickly before letting the others in.

Vienna lied with Carl and Judith on some hay near the fire. It didn't take long for sleep to take over. Her arms were wrapped around the children in hopes of providing extra warmth.

She was so tired she didn't even hear the conversation that was held a few feet away from her.

She only woke up once when the thunder rumbled extra loud. She sat up and noticed only one person was awake. It was Daryl.

He was sat against the wall. He was already staring at her. She looked down. Was he watching her sleep?

She took a deep breath before standing up. She limped over to him. She slid down the wall next to him.

"You sleep yet?" She asked. He grunted. She took that as a no.

She sighed. "Go to sleep. I'll take watch." He only shook his head slightly.

"Daryl, it's okay. I got it. Everyone is okay." She tried reassuring him. He didn't listen.

She sighed again. "You wanna talk about it?" She asked.

He seemed to contemplate his answer before shaking his head. "Nah. Just sit here with me."

She felt her body warm up over his words. She felt her cheeks burn. He wanted her company. It was a good thing it was dark in the barn.

"Talk to me about something else." He said suddenly. She seemed confused by his request. He took notice of it.

"I mean, talk about anything else. I want to get my mind off of things." He mumbled the last part.

She seemed to ponder for a moment. "Well, I guess I'll tell you more about myself." She said. He chuckled. "I know you."

She smiled. "Well, you don't know my favorite color." She said. He smirked. "It's red."

Her jaw dropped slightly in awe and confusion. "How did you know that?" He smirked again. "I told you that I know you. Come on, tell me something I don't know."

She laughed playfully. "Okay, well, my favorite flowers are yarrows. My dad had planted a bunch of them at our childhood farm." He smiled at her as he watched her expression as she talked.

What she didn't realize what that this talk wasn't just for him. He wanted her to talk about things to get her own mind off everything. He knew she was struggling too.

She smiled and continued. "I always call Rick by this nickname that I started when I was five. He hates it. Ricky." She laughed quietly at the memories.

Daryl smiled as he watched her laugh. "I had a childhood best friend named Daisy. She moved to Florida in 10th grade. We lost contact."

She looked down at the memory. She looked back up at Daryl and noticed his expression that urged her to continue. "Um, I've only ever had one boyfriend before. We met at a bar on my twenty-first birthday. We dated for a year before we fell out. He cheated. We didn't have a whole lot in common. He was older. I think he was looking for someone his age so he could have something in common with them." She joked as she let out a small giggle.

Daryl scoffed. "Sounds like a prick." Vienna gave a small smile but sighed. "Actually, he wasn't bad to me. Obviously he was probably too mature for me and a cheater but as a boyfriend, before everything else, he was good."

She sighed again. "I never saw him again. I guess I hope he figured sh*t out and settled down. Knowing men, he probably didn't." She giggled.

Daryl laughed softly. "You deserved better than that." She smiled back at him. She never realized how close they were until that moment.

Their faces were only about six inches apart. His eyes dropped to her lips. She felt herself suck in air quickly. She felt her heart begin to race. Was he about to kiss her? He can't be, right?

Vienna's mind battled herself for a minute. She liked him. He didn't like her. That's what she had told herself all this time. Had she been wrong all along? Could he actually have feelings for her too? No way... right?

She saw him lean in another inch. There were five inches apart. His eyes never left her lips. Her eyes dropped to his. She leaned in. Four inches apart.

They were broken out of their spell when the doors rattled loudly. The thunder rumbled. She reeled back. He cleared his throat as he scratched his head in embarrassment.

The doors rattled again. Daryl jumped to his feet. He walked up to the doors. She got up and followed. The thunder got louder. The wind howled loudly and the doors almost opened all the way.

He threw himself at the doors to close them. It worked for only a minute. It pushed back. He stumbled. Vienna rushed forward and placed her hands against the doors.

They stood next to each other pushing the doors. They pushed back. They struggled for a minute. She felt his hand cover hers. She met his eyes before they both nodded slightly.

They pushed again but it was no use. It pushed back. She groaned. "Guys? A little help here!" She yelled out to the sleeping group.

The others woke up and jolted to the door to help. She was surprised when Daryl's hand never left hers. Even though everyone was up and piling to the doors, he stayed there, holding her hand.

She kept eye contact with Daryl as everyone pushed the doors together. They stared at each other and continued pushing back. It lasted a while before the storm settled. They were able to all lay back down for the rest of the night.

Vienna didn't fall back asleep for awhile. Her mid was racing. She couldn't help but think about him. He seemed different now. She liked it.

Ooooo! We're getting somewhere with them two. I'm so excited for Alexandria. This is the place that will finally bring Vienna and Daryl even closer... if you know what I mean.... ;))
